Let In The Light

We have been plunged into a deep chill. The trees are so frozen that the bark is just white, coated with ice from top to bottom. Most limbs are entirely barren. It reminds us of nightmares and moments of being lost, apprehensive, in remote locations.

Obsessed with Cold

Even on bleak December days, revel in the range of grays. Steely. Soft. Charcoal. Silvery. Stone. With gratitude for having a warm house from which to watch the winter's journey.

Stuck Inside

Imagine standing in a field. Cold white covers the ground. Cold white blankets the sky. Bare branches flap in the wind. A single brown tree trunk punctures the scene. And bits of reddish brown scatter warmth through the otherwise freezing scene. Welcome, winter!

Quintessential December

In our fairy-tale gingko grove, a visit is like a meeting with old friends who come but once a year and stay only a limited time. The uniquely shaped yellow leaves still on the trees are echoed by the golden carpet spread below them. People of all ages - and their dogs - come to sample the magic.
