I am working on a new series that is about the unseen – about what we can only imagine of what lies beyond what we can truly see.
Here we have ambiguity with the two windows as thresholds: are we outside looking into and through a room and then out again? The darkness of the inside does not allow us to know exactly what is inside, though there are tiny bits of golden light beckoning us.
And is this inner space welcoming or threatening? It is dark and murky. But through the far window, we see the golds and greens of, perhaps, a living field of plants growing and thriving in sunlight.
So while the window implies a room, a dwelling, a human presence – there is no visible human presence now. But the aged window suggests that the touch of man was here, once upon a time. Or maybe even today. We just don't know.
