I have been drawn lately to images that evoke memory, dream and past experience.
Here, we have a swirling form, like a whirlpool, that reveals a pond inside, its water textured with gentle ripples. Reflections of bare tree branches stretch across the water, interwoven with pale patches of sky and muted gold tones suggesting reflected foliage or light.
In both the whirlpool and the pond, there is a sense of motion, as though the water is being stirred. The outer edges fade into a soft, misty landscape where the shoreline, reeds and distant trees are barely discernible through a veil of haze.
Although I was, of course, there to make the image, in its new form, it feels ethereal and contemplative, blending water, reflection and motion into an abstract meditation on perception.
