As I began to work on this image, and memories started to spark, I remembered what photographer Cole Thompson said about vision: "Vision is simply the sum-total of your life experiences that allows you to see the world in a unique way."
So as I looked at the lines and shapes, I was surprised to be taken back to places I’ve actually been and places I’ve only imagined. Here I saw hillsides covered with dwellings. I saw roads that lead up the mountainside. I saw the orange and yellow glow of lights that flicker on inside these dwellings as the sun sets – and all that remains of the day is the just-before-midnight-blue of last light.
I imagined traveling to these towns. Pittsburgh, Jerusalem, and Santorini jumped into my mind’s eye, along with make-believe towns from stories I’ve read.
But what does this image bring to life for you? What does the vision of your life bring to this mix of color and form?
