It is a cold, gray, November day in the valley. Leaves have fallen from most of the trees. We are, at this moment, waiting and watching for desperately needed rain.
This time of year – between fall and winter – reminds me of this scene where the cold and the color are so clearly December-y, which is when I made this image.
Cold white on the ground. Cold white in the sky. Bare white branches. All punctured by a single, surreal brown tree trunk. Bits of reddish brown – probably leaf remnants - are scattered all around.
It all takes me back to that freezing, barren park. It was dramatically and quintessentially December – one of the “gray” months that is coming soon.
