Early April 2024 in the Great Smoky Mountains gave me the gift of dramatic color, made more special by the bitter cold. While this isn’t an exact rendering of what I saw, it is an honest expression of how I felt as I stood overlooking the park on this frigid morning.
For over an hour, we stood, shivering, because we couldn’t give up on this vista. We were amazed – and bulky, dressed in heavy coats, hats, gloves, and earmuffs.
Look closely at the hillsides. Trees, trees, trees everywhere in a painter’s palette of yellows, greens, oranges and reds. And don’t miss the hoarfrost on the spines of the mountains or the light casting spotlights on the greens in the foreground and the golds in the heavens.
Thank you, @TillmanCrane, for being willing to lead me to a sunrise in this glorious place!
