I am just back from a wonderful photography workshop led by @TillmanCrane through @MaineMedia in the Great Smokies. When I see what I call the “blue ripples” – in the Smokies or the Blue Ridge - I get a feeling of familiarity that makes me wonder whether I was a mountain girl in another life.
I’ll soon post a new gallery on my website dedicated to this trip. For now, here’s a teaser of what I felt in early April in that magnificent park.
First, imagine how cold it was. I wore every bit of winter clothing I brought – and still shivered. One morning, there was snow or hoarfrost kissing the tops of the mountains. Winds whipped through us, as we witnessed the majesty.
In this image, you have a whole world of feeling – mountains, a river of fog, and dramatic skies punctuated by still-bare tree branches. And barely hiding in the sky is a crayon box of some of my favorite colors.
