Tapestry is a marvelous form of textile art, traditionally woven by hand on a loom. Artists make a tapestry by weaving colored weft threads through plain warp threads. In medieval times, tapestries became status symbols, while also serving as insulation for damp castle walls and chilly churches. The threads, often wool or silk, are used to create small blocks of color.
So, while this isn’t an actual tapestry, it feels textural, touchable, dimensional to me. I created it for a challenge through fyv.art* about fragments, using the concepts of collage. The assemblage feels like looking through old glass at beloved pieces from the past. I see so many shapes and possibilities here. What does it look like to you?
