With a little intentional camera movement, this lone white origami horse becomes part of a herd, galloping forward surrounded by mysterious light.
I’ve taken two workshops with photographer Susan Burnstine who is known for pushing you to identify what makes your heart sing when you shoot. After the first workshop, Susan said: “we don’t see the world like you; you show us the world like this.” The emphasis was on how I capture the unseen world.
As I began her second workshop, I wrote this: “I want to create a compelling world of my imagination.” Then, during the class, we pushed the concept further to this “aha” moment: my fascination is with the magical, the fantastical.
I feel like this is truth for me. Regardless of which technique I’m exploring – like the high-burst multiple exposure of this image – my joy is with creating a world that doesn’t exist.
